This week has been pretty fun! I got to learn how to whip...well I still need a lot of practice but I didnt whip myself in the face so thats good. Well at least not yet. Whipping is a Hungarian tradition here and everyone gets whips! They are pretty fun. We also celebrated the 4th of July with Hamburgers and watermelon....there is nothing like a true american hamburger. Hamburger here is mostly just fat not meat so make sure to enjoy hamburgers there! The elders fixed some hamburgers though and they were pretty good and then we played a little football and had some watermelon. It was pretty fun.
Our investigators are doing awesome! This past week we met with the lady we met on the street who began by saying she was catholic and not interested to eventually inviting us into her house. It was a really awesome program and we gave her a BOM with a note in it and as she started to read it, she just started bawling and saying how peaceful she felt and how she believed that everything we had told her could really be true. It was an amazing lesson! Unfortunately she doesnt think her husband will approve so she said that if she can keep meeting with us she will call us so we are praying that she will continue to read and call us soon!
We also met another lady on the street and talked to her. She invited us to her house the next day and so we went and met with her. We just talked to her about God and about how much He loves her and she just told us that she had been feeling lately that she needed some more direction and help in her life but she didn't know where to find it. She just kept repeating over and over how grateful she was that we stopped her on the street and talked with her. She also came to church with us yesterday and she loved it!
Church was awesome yesterday....we had 3 investigators come and I think it really boosted the branchs hope of new members in the ward! We had a lady come - she is 69 years old and is the funniest person I have ever met. We have been meeting with her for a while and she told us last week that she knew she needed to quit smoking and come to church. So she came to church yesterday and had a wonderful experience and afterwards, we went over to her house for lunch (she said we are just like her kids so she has to feed us haha) and she said that she is going to be coming to church every week from now on, and keep reading the scriptures because she knows that that is what she needs to be doing. She is awesome!
We also had another investigator come to church again. She is really shy and quiet but she is opening up to us a lot. She is going through a lot in her life so we are trying to help her the best that we can.
We had sport day on Friday with the branch (that was also Sister Chamberlains birthday) and we had 2 investigators come to that! It was the funnest day. We had a couple ladies and one of their daughters came. It was so fun! I played with 2 of them the whole time and we just had a blast! It was nice to just play and laugh with them and not have to worry so much about speaking the language with them. We had a good time! Afterwards, we walked them all home and I was walking with the cute girl and she asked me how I became mormon. I told her that I was baptized and she told me that she wanted to be baptized too because she wanted to be Mormon. Then she asked when she could become Mormon. Her mom overheard her and told her that maybe they will become mormon together on the same day. So we are going to talk about baptism tonight with them! They are a super cool family!
After sport day, we went over to another families house because the son had the same birthday as sister Chamberlain so we went to go give him a present. I love this family. They had been waiting for us to come (we had some miscommunication so we didnt set up a specific time to come) and the kids had been looking out the window all day for us to come. They were so excited when we got their because they wanted to wait for us to come to have cake and celebrate with us. I have never felt so much love before. They are just an amazing family! And they love praying!!!! They are just so eager to learn more about the church and the wife told her husband all about what we had taught them and he really wants to meet with us too now. They are the sweetest family!
We just have the most amazing investigators and are meeting so many people who are so prepared to hear the Gospel. We have an awesome branch here with such strong members! I just love Duna! And I love my life!!!!!! Being a missionary is definitely so hard...especially when you cant say much, but loving people speaks a lot louder than words I found this week. Just being there for people, listening to them, and loving them is sometimes all people need. This week we had a really neat experience to meet a family sitting on a bench and the oldest girl had some phyisical and mental disabilities. We sat down on the bench with them and began to teach them. The little girl loved to sing so she wanted to hear us sing. We ended up singing Jesus wants me for a sunbeam in English on this little bench with all sorts of people watching us jump up and down. This little girls smile as she watched us though was so worth it. My heart just wanted to burst with love for this little family and I just felt how much God really loved them and was aware of them. Unfortunately we couldnt set up another time to teach with them but we spent quite a bit of time with them on that bench just talking with them and teaching them. I realized that missionary work is a lot more than just teaching lessons, its more than just asking people to be baptized, its more than just getting numbers on a piece of paper. Its about helping people see the love that God has for them. As a missionary, I have never felt more love for random people walking down the street. It is an amazing experience to realize how much love God really has for each and every one of His children and how much He wants to help them, they have to be the ones to accept the help that He is willing to give. I just love my life and the experiences that I am having here. There are no words to describe how wonderful and how hard being a missionary is. I LOVE BEING A MISSIONARY!!!!!
Love you all! I hope you have a great week and have a lot of fun on your vacations this week!
